Construction starts on redevelopment of Melrose Park Public School, plus the suburb’s new high school and preschool

Exciting news for local families – construction is now underway on a brand-new high school and a major redevelopment of Melrose Park Public School!

Opening Day 1, Term 1, 2027, the new Melrose Park High School will feature world-class facilities including 31 modern classrooms, 3 support classrooms, a school hall, sports court and library – designed to deliver high-quality education close to home. The new high school is planned to accommodate up to 1,000 students in future.

Right next door, Melrose Park Public School is being transformed – growing five times its current size. The redevelopment includes a new library, school hall, covered outdoor learning area, and sports court, replacing all demountables and creating more space for students to learn and play.

A new public preschool will also be co-located on site, offering fee-free places for up to 120 children per week – creating a seamless education journey from preschool to Year 12.
