Festivities started early at The Hermitage, Gledswood Hills with a colourful Christmas market and twilight picnic filled with tasty treats, free presents for the kids, live entertainment and a visit from the man in red himself, Santa Claus.
Nearly 600 residents attended the memorable Christmas event, hosted by Sekisui House on Saturday 9 December.
Santa arrived in spectacular fashion via a horse and carriage and spent several hours with the local children taking photos and handing out presents. Live entertainment continued well into the evening with The Bellhops and Macarthur Singers performing popular tunes and Christmas carols, while the Dauntless Movement Crew showed off their wares. The market stalls run by local residents, offered an array of goods from handmade toys to floral creations.
Craig Barnes, Sales, Marketing & Customer Relations Manager at Sekisui House said, “Christmas is a wonderful time of year for the community to come together and celebrate with neighbours, family and friends. The Christmas spirit was clearly evident at The Hermitage on Saturday, with hundreds of residents enjoying the festivities. Such events are a special part of The Hermitage social calendar, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and participation from our residents.
“The arrival of Santa via a horse and carriage was extremely popular with the kids, and the free gifts certainly topped off his visit. Residents of all ages enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere created by the live entertainment, and stunts by the Dauntless Movement Crew amazed everyone.

"The stalls were also extremely popular and we thank our local community members for participating in the event.”

The Christmas spirit is also apparent throughout The Hermitage, Gledswood Hills with themed lights embellishing many homes. Elves, Santa’s, sleighs, reindeers and candy canes are dispersed throughout the neighbourhood, lighting up the streetscape with a special Christmas twinkle.
