Sekisui House has appointed leading engagement specialists The Hornery Institute to collaborate with the local community to understand residents’ aspirations for a new mixed-use village centre at the $750 million award-winning ‘The Hermitage’ estate in Gledswood Hills, NSW.

Titled ‘Gledswood Village’, the $300 million development is a planned mixed-use precinct that will span over seven hectares, incorporating the existing Camden Valley Country owned by Western Suburbs League Club. It will offer residential, retail, commercial, leisure and entertainment opportunities that are destined to capitalise on the projected 6,000+ residents within The Hermitage.

Sekisui House has outlined the vision for Gledswood Village to become the authentic civic heart for the vibrant new community with an active main street focused on a pedestrian dominated environment, high quality public spaces, leisure activities including food and beverage premises, and an energetic precinct with a careful mix of uses that are active outside of core business hours.

DA lodgement is aimed for early 2017 with the first stage targeted for opening mid to late 2019.

Upon its recent appointment, The Hornery Institute has already completed initial focus group sessions with local residents and plans are underway for further engagement events in the near future.

Commenting on the importance of community inclusion in the planning process, Sekisui House Project Director Craig D’Costa stated, “As a responsible developer with a focus on creating sustainable communities, we place people at the heart of every project we undertake. The appointment of a community engagement specialist is consistent with our commitment to the residents of The Hermitage, as we believe in the importance of the community in helping to create and shape the foundations of our developments.
