Seventy-two budding golfers this week took part in the seventh annual US Masters Breakfast Golf Tournament and raised over $6,000 for The McGrath Foundation. The event was held at the Lakeside Golf Club, located in The Hermitage, Gledswood Hills.
Funds from the event will be used to support the Foundation’s breast cancer nurses working in the Camden and Macarthur regions.
Event co-ordinator Brian Brown comments, “The event was created to raise money for charities and bring together friends, golfing members and businesses to enjoy a fun day out in the sun. It is always run on the same day as the last round of The US Masters Tournament to provide additional atmosphere and banter.
“Over the past seven years we have raised more than $30,000 for various charities including the Motor Neurone Disease Association, The Starlight Children’s Foundation and The McGrath Foundation. This is the second year we helped The McGrath Foundation.”
Sekisui House has supported the event for the fourth year running. Brent Thompson, Senior Development Manager for Sekisui House comments, “It is a privilege to again be involved with helping a well-respected organisation such as The McGrath Foundation. We take great pleasure in giving back to the new community we are creating.  Many charity golf days have been organised at Lakeside Golf Club which provides an ideal environment to play, socialise and be entertained.”
Vicki Bell is among 117 McGrath Breast Care Nurses working nationally, to support more than 50,000 families experiencing breast cancer.
“We’re so grateful to the US Masters Breakfast Golf Tournament for their support to help fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses like me in Macarthur,” Ms Bell said.

“It’s through generous donations like these that we come ever closer to making it possible for every person experiencing breast cancer to receive the support of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse,” she said.
The day started at 6am watching what is arguably the most prestigious golfing tournament in the world - The US Masters, whilst enjoying a full breakfast. When the telecast was over, the teams played for The Masters Breakfast trophy after a tough contest.
Lunch, entertainment, presentations, raffles and live auctions were held throughout the day, providing many laughs and comradery amongst the golfers.
