Melrose Park Shuttle Hits 10,000 Passenger Milestone

30 October 2019

It was introduced in March this year by PAYCE and Sekisui House, developers of the Melrose Park urban renewal project, to supplement existing transport links.

Following feedback from local residents it was extended to the Meadowbank Ferry Wharf.

PAYCE Director Dominic Sullivan said the milestone proved there is demand for a service which connects communities with other major transport options.

“Over the past seven months, the service has proven to be very popular and to date is averaging around 400 passengers each week who enjoy a comfortable and reliable free trip to start and finish their working day,’’ Mr Sullivan said.

“While the service still caters primarily for commuters, it is available to all local residents who may wish to use the service during its operation hours.”

The bus route starts at the northern end of Wharf Road, travels via Taylor and Cobham Avenue, Andrew Street, Adelaide Street and Constitution Road West before stopping at Meadowbank Station and terminating at the Meadowbank Ferry Terminal.

The bright green eco-friendly bus holds 26 passengers and features an ultra-low floor design with an easy accessible wheelchair ramp.

At over 30 hectares, Melrose Park is Sydney’s largest urban renewal project.

The $6 billion project will include 6,000 new apartments, a retail town centre, community facilities and parklands and create more than 1,500 new jobs.

The first residents are due to start moving in to their new homes next year.
